- IgniteLansing 5 -- First Planning Meeting
If you are interested in helping with IgniteLansing 5 -- either with the planning or the event itself, we will have our first meeting about the event on Wednesday, November 2nd from 6 - 8pm. The meeting will be in room 151 within the Communication Arts and Sciences Building, on the Campus of MSU. Free parking is available in the parking ramp just south of Com Arts.
We will be brain-storming ideas for locations, sponsorships, etc. Come with any ideas you have to make another great event!

13 Presenters on stage, over 600 attendees, 44 volunteers, and four hours of good friends, presentations, beer and food. That is what makes Lansing great!As we finish cleaning up and returning back to our normal lives we want to thank everybody who attended the event, and all the sponsors. Charlie Wollborg – We’re all thieves: A look at how we’re stealing time, talent, and triumphs from the world
Charlie is a purveyor of attention. He helps growing brands stand out from the clutter. He opened the doors at Curve Detroit Marketing Strategy & Creative Design after being thrown out of several well respected ad agencies. As a marketing strategist and creative director, he has delivered blue sky ideas and bottom line results for blue chip nationalclients and budding challenger brands. When he's not building brands, you'll find Charlie inspiring, educating and entertaining business audiences with his lively keynote presentations on marketing, innovation and motivation. Justin Caine – Check out DIS Ability
Justin Caine was born and raised in Haslett, Michigan and currently lives in Lansing. When he was 10, he underwent emergency surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor and for several years after underwent extensive therapy. Because of his miraculous recovery from such trauma, he became the 1994 Children’s Miracle Network Miracle Child for Sparrow Hospital.Today, Justin has spearheaded several charitable events and organizations and participates in several others. Justin, along with TJ Duckett, organized Battlefield Brawl, a flag football tournament to raise money to support Sparrow Children's Neurology. Caine and Duckett also started Lunch with a Purpose, a group that meets once a week during lunch to assist charities and non-profits with whatever they need. Justin co-hosts the Sparrow Children’s Miracle Network Telethon each year and participates in Relay for Life and Sparrow Foundation events. He is on the board for theCapital Area Business Leadership Disability Council, an advocacy group for employment of people with disabilities, and helps with the Sparrow Hospital SuperstarsT-ball team. Along with his philanthropy, Justin co-owns Good Fruit Video, which produces documentary style videos of organizations and events to be used primarily via the web, thus giving an inexpensive, green, global and unlimited way to reach potential customers and clients. Justin has been nominated forseveral awards both individually and through his company and was one of the2009 Ten Over the Next Ten winners presented by the Lansing Chamber of Commerce.

Alyssa Kessler – Lansing Mitten Mavens Roller Derby
The Mitten Mavens have been around since May 2010. We are part of the world’s fastest growing sport. Since May we have worked on becoming a non-profit and building a sense of community. We believe in skating for a better community. We donate to a variety of charities. Our team is made up of a diverse group of people; skaters areanywhere between 20 to 50 years old. We have undergraduate students to artists to professionals. We are always looking for new people to skate, volunteer,ref, sponsor, or just plain fans. We want to grow and learn together. Bryan K. Ritchie works to coordinate the capacity and resources for entrepreneurship at MSU with the communities of Lansing and greater Michigan. Ritchie began his career in the computer hardware and software industry. He is an entrepreneur and has started several computer companies. Dr. Ritchie received an MBA from the Marriott School at Brigham Young University and has had extensive executive and management experience in the computer industry for firms. He currently directs the MSU’s Entrepreneurship Network, external strategy for Michigan State University’s Bioeconomy Network and co-directs the Michigan Center for Innovation and Economic Prosperity. Dr. Ritchie is a professor of international relations and political economy in James Madison College at Michigan State University. His research focuses on the political economy of innovation, entrepreneurship, technological development, skills education and training, and social capital. Dr. Ritchie has received many awards and grants, including Michigan State’s Teacher-Scholar award, the Council of Graduate School’s Distinguished Dissertation in the Social Sciences, and grants from the U.S.Department of Education, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, theEarhardt Foundation, and the Andrew W. - All about IgniteLansing 4
ig•nite - to set afire, to heat up, to set in motion... Are you ready for IgniteLansing 4.0? We're just over a week away from the event on February 11, 2011!
Arriving at the event:
Please park in the long term parking at the Capital Region International Airport (LAN). The airport is located at 4100 Capital City Boulevard, Lansing, MI 48906. You will need to pay for parking. It will be $3 for the evening. To keep the event greener (and to save some cash!), we encourage attendees to carpool or take public transportation (www.cata.org) to the airport terminal for registration.
Registration inside the terminal begins at 6:00pm. Please arrive no later than 7pm to ensure on-time arrival at the Airplane Hangar for the the start of IgniteLansing 4.0. Enter the airport by the Airline TIcketing counters and look for the IgniteLansing signs. Follow the signs to check in for your 'Boarding Passes'.
Once you have registered and received your boarding pass, proceed to the front of the terminal where CATA will provide free shuttle service to and from the event space. Buses will run in approx. 10 minute intervals at the beginning and end of the event. During the event, shuttle service will be available in approx. 30 minute intervals to return guests to and from the terminal.
Everyone needs a Boarding Pass to enter the event. Please bring your printed ticket stub (this was attached to your confirmation email) to help speed our check-in process. You can get a copy of your ticket by clicking on the link located at the end of this email. The event is SOLD OUT, so if you have friends/family who do not have tickets, unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate them.

There will be limited food and snacks at this event. There will be a cash bar available during the event featuring Michigan Brewing Company beer and wine (along with free soda and water). We encourage participants to bring their own water bottles for water.

Khalid Ibrahim is a native of Islamabad, Pakistan. He moved to the United States with his family when he was 13 years old. Megan Gebhart, a senior at Michigan State University and transplant from Wyoming, is an active member of the entrepreneurial community at Michigan State. Megan got involved with the entrepreneurial scene when she started msuCatalyst.com, a website focused on sharing stories about interesting Spartans. That led to involvement in Gumball Club (an informal group of student entrepreneurs) and a position as and co-director of The Hatch student business incubator. Her latest venture is 52 Cups of Coffee, a yearlong experiment in caffeine and conversation where each week for a year, she has coffee with someone she doesn't know and writes about what she learns in the process.
