What is Ignite?
So, as I'm promoting the IgniteLansing event, I keep getting asked : "What, exactly, is Ignite?"
The short answer? An awesome, rockin' party!
The slightly longer answer : Ignite is an event that is a social gathering to help spread knowledge and have fun. The event is primarily about presentations, where people give very quick, 5 minute presentations about pretty much about any topic. As my friend Randy Brown said, it is 'speed dating for presentations'. Presentations are voted on (by you!) based on categories, like how funny they were, and how good the props are. Topics range from how to make your business more efficient to how to brush your dog's teeth.
Interested yet? At the very worst you will meet some of the coolest people in Lansing for this dynamic 3 hour event. Oh, and did I mention the side competition? Ignite events usually host some sort of "Science Olympiad" style competition that brings you back to the 6th grade competition that was all about building the coolest bridge or something along those lines (don't worry, we will announce which competition we will be offering soon!)
